Safe Space Policy for FemDevsMeetup Events & Online COmmunity

FemDevsMeetup events are dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants and community members in any form. Sexual language and imagery are only appropriate for educational or scientific purposes, can only be shown with a clear disclaimer prior and need to be approved by the organiser beforehand. Event participants and community members violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event/community [without a refund] at the discretion of the organisers.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination [related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion].

  • Sexual images in public spaces [if not approved prior for educational or scientific purposes]

  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following

  • Harassing photography or recording

  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events

  • Inappropriate physical contact

  • Unwelcome sexual attention

  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the venue/discrod server. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an organiser or volunteer immediately.

The staff will be happy to help participants contact security or police, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all our events and on our discord server.

CONTACT

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our community for everyone. Our team will be happy to help you contact hotel/venue security, local law enforcement, local support services, provide escorts, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event and on our discord server.

Please get in touch online through the contact page [femdevsmeetup@gmail.com]. Or approach one of our organisation team members on-site if you want to report inappropriate behavior, need support, or have questions.
